samurai training journey. After not seeing his son for ten years, Munenori tells Jubei about
the conspiracy of overturning the present Shogunate plotted by the warriors of Suruga
Dainagon Tadanaga, who competed with Iemitsu for the Shogun position and was forced to
commit seppuku. The ringleader of the conspiracy is a fearful swordsman and the
ex-advisor of Tadanaga, Kageyu Toda. Jubei's secret trip has begun in order to erase the
root of all possible conspiracies plotted all over the country.

same name. The story centers on Naoe Kanetsugu, a loyal and devoted samurai in

Uesugi Kenshin and after his death, served Kenshin's adopted son Kagekatsu and is
known for his extreme loyalty to the Uesugi family. He also made every effort to protect
the people of Echigo with a strong sense of justice and genuine sympathy toward
commoners.

developed, wherein each man and each woman loves one and is loved by
another. Finally only combat and self-sacrifice can untangle the weave.

RICKSHAW MAN

Tough and ready Mitsu, the rickshaw man, goes in for anything rough and tumble.
His life changes, however, when he crosses paths with Toshio, a young boy who
hasinjured himself. As thanks for helping the boy to the doctor, Toshio's parents,
the Yoshioka, invite Mitsu to dinner and he gladly accepts their offer. They become
close and when Mr. Yoshioka dies from an illness, the family asks Mitsu to serve
as the young boy's tutor. Mitsu does an exemplary job readying Toshio for school,
instilling in him the honesty and honor which are so much a part of his own character.
After Toshio leaves for school, Mitsu evidences an interest in Mrs. Yoshioka, but their
difference in station keeps him from expressing his desire. The Rickshaw Man is a
sentimental favorite of Japanese cinema.

GOEMON

day redistributing wealth to the lower economic classes. Fate takes an intriguing turn
when Goemon acquires a small, ornate, handcrafted box of foreign design that he swipes
from a merchant and hands to a homeless kid. Also after the box is the Administrator of
Hideyoshi, who sends a vicious ninja out to take care of Goemon and retrieve the item;
Goemon recovers it first, however, while saving the young homeless boy from a bellicose
swordsman. In no time at all, Goemon finds himself being pursued by everyone under the
sun including Mitsunari, re-encounters a lost love from his past, Cha Cha and realizes
that the box will play an integral role in the nation's future.
